Air Fryer Fruit Scones

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead very gently for about 30–40 seconds—just enough to form a smooth dough. Over-kneading will reduce the rise.

Step 6: Rest the Dough (Intensity: Low)

Let the dough rest for 10 minutes. This helps relax the gluten and improves texture, making the scones softer after cooking.

Step 7: Shape the Scones (Intensity: Medium)

Roll the dough to about 2 cm thickness. Use a round cutter to cut out scones. Press straight down without twisting to ensure even rising. Re-roll leftover dough and repeat until all dough is used.

Step 8: Preheat Air Fryer (Intensity: Low)

Preheat your air fryer to 180°C for 3–5 minutes. Preheating ensures even cooking and proper rise.

Step 9: Air Fry the Scones (Intensity: Medium-High Heat)

Place parchment paper in the air fryer basket and arrange scones with space between them. Brush the tops lightly with milk for a golden finish.

  • Cook at 180°C for 10–12 minutes
  • Check at 10 minutes; scones should be golden brown and risen

If needed, add 1–2 extra minutes depending on your air fryer model.

Step 10: Cool and Serve (Intensity: Low)

Remove scones carefully and place them on a wire rack. Let them cool for at least 5–10 minutes before serving.

Texture and Taste Notes

These air fryer fruit scones should have:

  • A golden crust on the outside
  • A soft, fluffy, slightly crumbly interior
  • Sweet bursts of fruit in every bite
  • A mild buttery flavor with optional spice warmth

If your scones turn out too dry, it usually means they were overcooked or had too little liquid. If they are too dense, the dough may have been overmixed.
