Understanding What Your Christmas Cactus Needs
Unlike desert cacti, Christmas cacti are tropical plants. They bloom based on light cycles, temperature, and care routines—not just fertilizer.
To trigger blooming, your plant needs:
- Cool temperatures (12–18°C)
- Long nights (12–14 hours of darkness)
- Slightly reduced watering
If any of these are off, blooming may not happen—even if the plant looks healthy.
🧂 The Simple Kitchen Remedy (Epsom Salt Trick)
One of the most effective and safe kitchen-based remedies is using Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate).
Why it works:
Magnesium helps with:
- Chlorophyll production (greener, stronger plant)
- Bud formation
- Nutrient absorption
How to use it:
- Mix 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt into 1 liter of water
- Apply it once a month during the growing season (spring–early fall)
- Do NOT use it at the same time as regular fertilizer (alternate weeks)
